Reconstructive interventions may also be necessary for noses that have suffered severe damage due to previous unsuccessful surgeries. The recommended ages for rhinoplasty operations are 16-17, when facial development is approximately 90% complete. However, for us, the appropriate age is 18 for males and 17 for females. Beyond these ages, the patient’s health status, rather than age, determines the decision for surgery. <\/p>

One of the most important factors to be determined before all aesthetic surgical interventions is the patient’s emotional stability. Rhinoplasty can provide a new shape to the nose, but it does not completely change one’s life. These operations help improve a person’s appearance and boost self-confidence, but the rest is up to the individual. After the examination, the aesthetic surgeon discusses the factors influencing the chosen method with the patient and provides information on all necessary aspects. The patient is personally informed by the aesthetic surgeon about the surgical technique to be applied, details regarding anesthesia, the surgical area, and the expected success after the operation. <\/p>

However, the aesthetic surgeon must still inform the patient about potential dangers and specific risks associated with rhinoplasty. Complications such as infection after surgical intervention are quite rare. Poor wound healing, however, may necessitate a second surgery.         The technique applied in Rhinoplasty<\/strong> is not solely dependent on your aesthetic surgeon’s preferences but also on your desires and expectations. The nose shape deemed appropriate by your surgeon is designed with the aid of a computer; this plan assists the surgeon during the operation and also helps you gain an understanding, allowing you to assess whether it meets your expectations. (This computer-aided design process is merely a planning tool and should not be taken as a definitive promise.) <\/p>

        Aesthetic Rhinoplasty<\/b> is performed to reduce or enlarge the size of the nose, shape the nasal tip, correct a nasal hump, and proportion the angle between the nose and the upper lip. In some cases, tissue augmentation to the face (chin, cheekbones, forehead, etc.) may be necessary to correct the contour. All or just one of these procedures can be performed with a single surgical intervention. The content of the surgery depends on the desired changes and what the aesthetic surgeon deems appropriate. Rhinoplasty can be performed at an outpatient treatment center or hospital, based on the surgeon’s recommendations. <\/p>

        In nose surgeries, incisions are mostly made from inside the nasal alae, and work is carried out from this area. This technique is called \u201cClosed Rhinoplasty<\/b>\u201d. In other cases, rhinoplasty surgery is performed through a small incision made in the strip located opposite the columella (the part between the nostrils) and dividing the nostrils; this technique is called \u201cOpen Rhinoplasty<\/b>\u201d. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

        The incision allows the aesthetic surgeon to maneuver for cutting, reshaping, shaving, and altering the external appearance of bones and cartilage. The nasal hump is shaved using medical instruments resembling a saw or chisel, and then the nasal bones are brought closer together to create a narrower bridge. <\/p>

        Cartilage resections allow for the reduction of the nasal tip and the creation of a more aesthetically pleasing contour. The tip of the nose is lifted as much as necessary to correct the angle between the nasal root and the upper lip. This procedure is performed by shaving the cartilage through an incision made in the nasal alae. If a larger hump has been corrected from the nasal dorsum, a disproportionate width will occur at the base of the nose. This is because some patients’ noses are structurally wide-based. In the narrowing procedure, small triangular pieces of skin are removed from the base of the nose, and the nasal alae are brought closer together. After suturing the mucosa and cartilage, the nose is bandaged. Subsequently, a plaster splint is applied to maintain the new position of the nose and protect the cartilage and bone. <\/p>

        Nasal splints are placed to protect the middle bone of the nose, especially if surgical intervention has been applied to the middle cartilage. (We have stopped using splints for the last 7 years.) <\/p>

        Although the procedure generally takes about 1.5-2 hours, the duration may extend depending on the nature of the surgical application.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

        Developed by Prof. Dr. Onur Erol in 1989 and introduced to world literature under the name \u201cTurkish Delight\u201d technique, this method has ushered in a brand new era in aesthetic nose surgery. In this technique, where cartilage removed from the patient is not discarded, the cartilage tissue is used in the preparation of ‘Turkish Delight’ for use in the nasal dorsum and nasal tip. <\/p>

        This method, which minimizes potential imperfections after surgery, allows the individual to have a natural-looking nose that does not reveal they have undergone an operation. Adopted by many plastic surgeons worldwide, this method is still widely used today.         Post-operative Recovery<\/span><\/span><\/h3><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

        After the surgery, there may be mild pain that is easily managed with medication. You will be asked to keep your head elevated as much as possible while lying down and to apply cold compresses to your eyes to reduce bruising and swelling. If nasal packing has been placed, it is removed the day after. In most cases, the nasal cast is removed in the first week following surgery, and a bandage is applied for about a week to prevent swelling. During this period, your aesthetic surgeon may recommend using a nasal splint at night. Bruising around the eyes begins to fade within a few days after surgery and mostly disappears by the end of the second week. (Generally, most of our patients experience little to no bruising.) Swelling in the nose gradually subsides, and this process can sometimes continue for months. <\/p>

        In most aesthetic Rhinoplasty operations, since the intervention is performed from inside the nose, there are no visible surgical scars externally. In cases where methods involving the narrowing of wide nasal alae are used, a barely noticeable incision scar may remain in the nasal ala folds. <\/p>

        Expecting an immediate and dramatic change in appearance right after surgery is not a realistic expectation. Complete healing and a clear view of the final result is a long process. It can take months, and in some cases even a year, for the nose to achieve its final appearance. <\/p>

        Although you may be able to get back on your feet within one or two days after surgery, your aesthetic surgeon will recommend a specific program for returning to your routine life. Adhering to this program will help ensure a healthy recovery as desired. Physical activities such as swimming, running, and even bending forward should be avoided for the first few weeks as they can increase blood pressure. While the time required to return to work may vary depending on the individual’s recovery process, it is typically possible to return to work within 15 days. <\/p>

        In cases of bruising, the use of cosmetic products to conceal it is permitted. However, materials that require vigorous rubbing should be avoided, especially in the first few weeks. Sunscreen creams are recommended during the expected period for bruises to subside. <\/p>

        In this initial stage of recovery, resting with your head slightly elevated will help reduce swelling.<\/p>\n

        You should try to minimize your movements (walks are beneficial, but there should be periods of rest).<\/p>\n

        It is normal to experience slight bleeding and congestion.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

        Within 10 Days<\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/span><\/h4>

        Swelling begins to subside.<\/p>\n

        If present, bruises begin to diminish (our patients experience little to no bruising).<\/p>\n

        You can use makeup to conceal any pale appearance.<\/p>\n

        If present, stitches are removed.<\/p>\n

        You can return to your studies or work, provided it is not too strenuous.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

        After a Few Weeks<\/span><\/path><\/svg><\/span><\/h4>

        You can resume most of your exercises and normal activities (4th week).<\/p>\n

        Most of your swelling subsides.<\/p>\n

        Although numbness decreases, returning to normal sensation may take several months.<\/p>\n

        You can start wearing contact lenses again from the 3rd day, provided there is no redness in the whites of your eyes. <\/p>\n

        You can wear glasses again by placing them over the aluminum splint provided by us (6th week).<\/p>\n

        You can learn about the type of glasses to use from your doctor or nurses.<\/p>\n
