Some patients have a more drooping and elongated nasal tip. In such cases, the plastic surgeon may need to apply different techniques depending on the nasal structure. If appropriate techniques are not utilized during surgery for these patients, nasal tip drooping may occur. However, when an experienced plastic surgeon adequately applies suitable techniques according to the specific nasal type, issues such as nasal tip drooping or sagging are not encountered.
Occasionally, swelling occurs in the supratip area, the prominence behind the nasal tip. This causes patients to perceive their nasal tip as more droopy, leading them to believe it has fallen. Swelling behind the very tip of the nose, which we refer to as the ‘tip,’ is actually a nasal deformity; however, it creates an optical illusion, making the tip appear to sag downwards, and this deformity is often perceived as nasal tip drooping. This problem is also attributable to a technical error. The occurrence of swelling behind the nasal tip again stems from insufficient technique applied during rhinoplasty. Nevertheless, such a deformity does not arise when the procedure is performed by a plastic surgeon with extensive knowledge and experience in rhinoplasty. The solution to this problem is to correct the swelling behind the nasal tip, which will resolve the issue.
