Common Inquiries
01What is aesthetic nose surgery?
Aesthetic nose surgery, also known as rhinoplasty, involves correcting the shape of the nose and harmonizing it with the face.
02Can breathing problems also be corrected during nose surgery?
Absolutely. It is extremely important to address breathing disorders concurrently. This is called functional rhinoplasty, which involves correcting both the nose's shape and breathing function.
03From what age can aesthetic nose surgery be performed?
Since girls' development is completed at age 17, it is more appropriate for girls to undergo surgery at 17 and boys at 18. While some perform it earlier, I do not find this appropriate.
04Who are suitable candidates for aesthetic nose surgery?
Individuals with nasal deformities who wish to correct them, provided they are in good health, both psychologically and generally, are suitable candidates.
05Which nose types are suitable for achieving good results in nose surgeries?
It is more challenging to achieve results with very thick and oily noses. It is more appropriate for highly experienced individuals to perform this surgery. My team at Onep and I have extensive experience in this field and possess unique techniques to achieve better results. Prof. Dr. Onur Erol has a technique that has been published in international literature.
06How is nose surgery performed? Open rhinoplasty or closed rhinoplasty?
Closed rhinoplasty is predominantly preferred in our clinic. All incisions are made inside the nose, leaving no external scars. In these internal surgeries, both aesthetic concerns and obstructions are corrected simultaneously, and the operation takes 1.5 hours. However, we also have a surgeon who performs open nose surgery.
07What happens at the end of the surgery?
At the end of the surgery, a bandage and cast are always applied and remain in place for about one week. After one week, the cast is removed, and a new bandage is applied to prevent swelling, which is kept for another week.
08Is there bruising and swelling after the surgery?
In the surgeries we perform, bruising is either absent or very minimal. This condition resolves within one to ten days. Rarely, if a patient is prone to bruising, their bruising might be slightly more pronounced.
09Does the patient stay overnight after surgery?
No. However, they visit our clinic daily or every other day, and light therapy is used to accelerate the reduction of swelling and bruising. The patient can move around the city with the cast and bandage.
10Is a nasal splint used in aesthetic nose surgery?
We have not used nasal packing for many years. However, thin, leaf-shaped silicone splints are temporarily kept inside to aid healing, and these do not obstruct breathing.
11Which method do you use in aesthetic nose surgery?
The technique developed by Prof. Dr. Onur Erol, which he has been applying for 27 years, known as Turkish Delight, is now recognized worldwide. This technique yields pleasant results where it is not obvious that the patient has undergone nose surgery.
12How many patients have you operated on with this technique?
Prof. Dr. Onur Erol has performed over 10,000, possibly even more, successful surgeries with this technique. He has at least three major articles published in the leading plastic surgery journal in America. While everyone strives to submit articles to this journal, he was invited to submit his. All three articles are historically recognized. The last article was published in 2016.
