Over the years, factors such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight fluctuations, and gravity can cause women’s breasts to sag. As the skin loses its elastic structure, breasts begin to lose their aesthetic appeal. Breast lift surgery, also known as Mastopexy, reshapes sagging breasts and helps them maintain their new shape and volume for a long time.
However, it is important to remember that no surgical method has yet been developed that completely eliminates the absolute effect of gravity. In other words, it is not possible, at least for now, to eliminate the effect of gravity through surgical intervention. With Mastopexy, if the dark area around the nipple is too wide, it can be narrowed. If there is breast sagging and volume loss, it is also possible to increase volume and fullness by placing implants in conjunction with Mastopexy.
Suitable Candidates for Breast Lift
Breast lift surgeries, which improve your appearance and help refresh your self-confidence, never guarantee that you will achieve your dream look or appear perfect. Before the surgery, it is crucial to review all your expectations and transparently explain them to your aesthetic surgeon to ensure you are in agreement on all matters.
Patients who are healthy, emotionally mature, and have realistic expectations for the surgery are the most suitable candidates for breast lift surgery. The best results are obtained in women with small and sagging breasts. Breasts of all sizes can be lifted, but the results achieved in heavier breasts may differ and the effect may last for a shorter period.
Breast lift aesthetics, which offers a solution to women seeking to lift sagging breasts after childbirth and breastfeeding, may not be a suitable choice for women planning to have children. While these surgical interventions do not prevent milk production, pregnancy and breastfeeding after childbirth negatively affect the results achieved by the aesthetic operation.

Planning for Sagging Breast Surgery
During your initial consultation, it is crucial to listen carefully to your aesthetic surgeon’s opinions and understand that their advice is in your best interest. By transparently explaining all your expectations regarding the aesthetic operation to your doctor, you help your aesthetic surgeon plan the surgery in a way that will make you most satisfied. After a breast examination and various measurements, photographs will be taken for comparison of surgical results, and your aesthetic surgeon will thoroughly inform you about risks and outcomes on many different topics. Since the position of the nipple will also change, it is beneficial to discuss and reach a consensus on where the nipple will be located. Especially if you have any expectations or concerns, you should definitely bring them up with your aesthetic surgeon at this early stage.
Preparation for Surgery
Your aesthetic surgeon may request a mammogram (breast X-ray) and will provide detailed information on everything from medications to be used before surgery to eating and drinking instructions. Smoking must be completely stopped before surgery, as it negatively affects blood circulation and increases surgical risks. Additionally, you will be asked to stop taking Aspirin and similar medications approximately 15 days before the surgery.
Anesthesia
You will be asleep during breast lift surgery, which is performed under general anesthesia. In some rare cases, anesthesia combined with sedative medications is used, in which case you will be awake but relaxed, experiencing very slight discomfort.
Surgery
Breast lift surgeries, which last between 1.5 and 3.5 hours and are quite serious surgical interventions, can be performed using many different techniques. Excess skin may need to be removed, and while the aesthetic surgeon determines the new position of the nipple, they also give the breasts their new shape. If the breasts are to be lifted with an implant, this implant is placed either directly under the skin in a prepared pocket or behind the muscle tissue in the chest wall.

Other Surgical Techniques
Vertical Mastopexy
This technique, which involves a single vertical incision under the breast, is a newly accepted and increasingly used surgical procedure for correcting breast ptosis. All aesthetic surgeons working at Onep successfully apply the Vertical Mastopexy technique “in appropriate cases.”
Circumareolar Mastopexy
This technique, where breast lifting is performed through an incision around the colored area of the nipple, i.e., the areola, is especially applied to patients with small and sagging breasts. Circumareolar Mastopexy, being a procedure with fewer and more limited incisions, is also known as “scarless breast lift aesthetics” because it does not result in prominent, obvious scars.
This method began to enter world literature through the publications of Prof. Dr. Onur Erol in 1974 and 1981. In this English book titled “Breast Lift from the Nipple,” it states: “Dr. Erol is the father of this technique.” Breast lifting is achieved through procedures such as suspending the breast to the muscle and reshaping it, with very little or no skin removal. Whether this surgical technique is suitable for you can only be decided by your aesthetic surgeon after an examination.

Post-Surgery
After the surgery, thin dressings and bandages are applied, and the patient is fitted with a special surgical bra. There may be bruising and swelling in the breasts for the first few days, but very severe pain is not common. If you do experience pain, your physician will administer pain relievers to ensure your comfort.
The bandages used for three weeks need to be changed weekly. During this period, when soft support bras are worn, bra usage continues day and night. For the first 6 months after surgery, you must wear a bra continuously during the day. Your breasts may swell during your first menstrual period after surgery, which may cause slight pain.
