Over the years, the face develops laxity and sagging. How does this occur? Starting from the age of 25, microscopic bone resorption begins in the facial bones, causing the soft tissues and muscles surrounding them to loosen, and altering facial contours.
As collagen tissue continues to weaken, the effects of sagging and laxity become more pronounced. When this condition cannot be reversed without surgical intervention, lifting methods become the ultimate solution.
Where to Begin Treatment
There are 5 different approaches for anti-aging treatment using mid-face and neck lift methods:
- Contour corrections to restore sunken, accessible facial areas
- Elimination of wrinkles around the eyebrows and eyes that cause a tired appearance (Click for More Detailed Information)
- Elimination of bags and sagging in the eyelids (Click for More Detailed Information)
- Elimination of sagging in the mid-face region and cheeks
- Elimination of sagging in the neck
Tissue Injections (Fat Tissue and Tissue Cocktail)
Tissue injection, a concept introduced in the 1990s, was shared at international congresses after its initial positive results. Although initially met with skepticism, it quickly became indispensable for all aesthetic surgeons. It was agreed that it could be used not only to restore deteriorated or lost contours but also to give youth and vitality to the skin through cell transplantation. However, the exact mechanism by which it imparts youth and vitality to the skin is still being researched. Tissue injection is also used preventatively to delay aging after the age of 30.
Mid-Face Lift
Due to their delicate structure, facial bones are among the quickest to resorb, and as resorption progresses, the tissues surrounding them loosen. Collagen structures weaken and deteriorate due to aging, genetic, and environmental factors. The cheekbone areas sag, the firmness under the eyes is lost, and they droop downwards due to gravity. While a young face is triangular and oval, as it ages, facial features begin to take on a square or rectangular shape. A mid-face lift is a procedure that vertically gathers and lifts sagging tissues. In this procedure, the skin, sagging muscles and membranes, and subcutaneous soft tissue are tightened. Non-excessive neck sagging and lower jaw sagging can also be corrected with this application recently. The ideal location for a mid-face lift, which can be performed from the temple and outer corner of the eye, is inside the cheek. If performed in conjunction with tissue injection, more beautiful and long-lasting results are achieved.
In Rembrandt’s portraits depicting both youth and old age, his face, which was triangular and oval in his youth, is seen to have become square and rectangular by the age of 63.

Neck Lift
The neck is the area that requires the most intervention and attention in facelift operations. During the operation, the fat tissue under the neck and chin is reduced, for which the neck skin is peeled back up to the chin. The platysma muscles under the skin are tightened upwards and sideways. The skin is then stretched sideways, and excess skin is removed. If the chin projection is insufficient, the chin is also augmented. This extends the distance between the front of the ear and the chin, providing a more aesthetic appearance as the neck becomes more defined. Neck lift surgery can be considered the most advanced form of facelift. A neck lift should be performed in conjunction with a mid-face lift, and excess skin should be gathered upwards and removed.
