Today, we observe that as individuals age, particularly with the formation of lines on their faces, they often seek to regain their former appearances.
The prominence of lines and wrinkles, along with facial contour irregularities, negatively impacts people’s morale and outlook on life. Plastic surgery specialists can resolve these patient concerns using various standalone or combined methods. However, for the solution to this problem, we do not recommend the use of silicone and collagen, and they are not used in our clinic. The use of liquid silicone is not recommended because it can enter the bloodstream, be transported to various parts of the body, and cause undesirable organ dysfunctions. The value of shaped, non-liquid silicone blocks is limited due to their unnatural appearance and their tendency to shift, leading to asymmetrical, unpleasant results. Collagen injections still hold some appeal for patients, as they are readily available without requiring any effort from the patient. However, due to its animal origin and the potential for serious allergic reactions, this substance is not used by informed patients and medical professionals. Fat injection, first used about 100 years ago, lost its popularity for a period but has recently started to be used again. Today, the most commonly used material for filling sunken areas is the patient’s own fat tissue.
