In this technique, where cartilage removed from the patient is used, the cartilage is finely diced and utilized in preparing the Turkish Delight to be placed on the nasal dorsum and nasal tip. This method minimizes potential post-operative issues, and when the nasal dorsum is touched, there is no roughness, giving the impression that no surgery has ever been performed. With this technique, a smooth, natural-looking nose is achieved, which does not appear to have been operated on, and the nose retains its initial form for many years.
Prof. Dr. Onur Erol has introduced the Turkish Delight technique to the world by presenting it through his lectures and live surgeries at numerous congresses to which he has been invited from all over the world, reaching thousands of aesthetic surgeons. Many aesthetic surgeons from abroad come to observe Prof. Dr. Onur Erol‘s nose surgeries to learn this technique.
All doctors in the Onep team are highly proficient in this method and continue to apply it successfully to their patients.
Today, the Turkish Delight technique is successfully used in nose surgeries by aesthetic surgeons in many countries around the world.
Post-Operative Recovery
There might be mild pain after the surgery, which can be easily managed with medication. After the operation, you are advised to sleep with your head elevated as much as possible and apply cold compresses to your eyes. This application helps reduce bruising and swelling. If nasal packing was used, it will be removed after 1 day.
The nasal cast is usually removed in the first week after surgery, and a bandage is applied for 1 week to prevent swelling. Your aesthetic surgeon may recommend using a nasal splint at night during this period. While bruising around the eyes begins to fade within a few days after surgery, it usually disappears completely by the end of the second week. Swelling in the nose gradually subsides, and sometimes full recovery continues for months. In a significant portion of aesthetic rhinoplasty surgeries, the surgical intervention is performed from inside the nose, so there are no visible external scars. If techniques aimed at narrowing wide nasal wings are used, a scar may remain in the nasal wing folds that is not easily noticeable.
It is unrealistic to expect an immediate change in appearance right after the operation. The complete and definitive recovery, and the clear emergence of the final result, is a long process. It may take months, and sometimes up to 1 year, for the nose to achieve its final appearance.
You can get back on your feet and return to your daily life with certain restrictions within a few days after the surgery, but this will only happen if you adhere to the recovery program prepared by your aesthetic surgeon. Paying attention to this program is crucial for your recovery to proceed healthily as desired. You should avoid activities such as swimming, running, and bending forward in the first few weeks. Although the time required to return to work varies depending on the patient’s recovery process, it is generally necessary to wait approximately 2 weeks. Of course, this also depends on the type of work the person is engaged in, as well as their recovery period.
The use of makeup products to conceal bruising is permitted, but products and applications requiring vigorous rubbing should definitely be avoided in the first week. Additionally, various products can be used to protect from sun exposure during the early stages of the healing process.
Although the recovery process varies in duration and manner for each patient, it can generally be said that the following processes will be experienced:
First Day
During this early stage of recovery, resting with your head slightly elevated helps reduce swelling.
You should try to minimize your movements.
It is normal to experience slight bleeding in the form of oozing and nasal congestion.
Within 10 Days
Swelling begins to decrease after reaching its maximum level.
Bruises start to fade.
You can use cosmetic products.
Your stitches, if any, will be removed.
You can return to your education or work, provided it is not too strenuous.
After a Few Weeks
You can resume most of your sports and daily activities (4th week).
Your swelling will significantly subside.
Although numbness disappears, returning to normal sensation can take several months.
You can start wearing contact lenses after the 3rd day, provided there is no redness in your eye whites.
You can wear glasses again by placing them on the provided support (6th week).
You need to protect your nose from sun exposure for a few months after surgery, and it is recommended to use high-SPF products for this purpose.
